Yeah i wonder about that question too. I am not sure if graphics card affects Fps rate. But i could bt wrong. You said that you need about 100fps. So you shouldn't worry about the card.
For example i am going to build a rig. But my budget is about $700.
I think that's enough for 6 hlds servers.
In my expirience core 2 quad is the best for hlds. I am running 4 servers on 2 gigs right now and it's not that bad either.
And you shouldn't be concerened about the graphics card.

The operating system should be windows server 2008. Some people might not agree with me but in my experience it's the best.

What kind of server are you deploying that requires a single 1200 PSU? He's going to make game servers, not number crunchers. You're over doing it.

After looking through the topic, I'm not sure what config you're talking about. But unless you're running a dual-socket MB you won't need more than 600W for most configurations, specially if you're not running powerful GPUs. But making the PSU work at a lower load may help with the effiency, so you have to make the math.

And AFAIK HLDS doesn't use any GPU acceleration, the only thing that it has to do that is common to the games is physics, and it's done in the CPU anyway.

That's not entirely true. Most PSUs working under ~75% of their full capacity show a drastically dropping efficiency.

Anyway, I'm still really hoping that the topic starter will ignore this thread and buy a ready-to-deploy server or properly updates his knowledge of hardware first before building his own.

The sweet spot for most PSUs is around 60% AFAIK, but of course, there are exceptions.
