Yes, I have researched about the racks. The hardware I mentioned would fit perfectly in a 2U, wouldn't it?

Yes, it would fit. You could even make it fit in a 1U case. But the hardware you mentioned won't meet the requirements as described in your first post. Also, 'SLI' and 'server' don't really match and the PSU will not work very efficiently with that setup.

Buy an Intel board, if you can't afford the server mobos, buy a matx. You don't need an ATX or a powerful GPU.

I like linux for multiple servers because Windows (XP) can't do symlinks. Symlinks in linux are easy and extremely usefull. I have both my servers using the same /plugins/ folder, same users.ini file, and just about anything that isn't specific to one server or the other.

I run one or the other server so I don't know for sure if they would work simultaneously, guess I will have to try that out someday.

Server 2008 can do symlinks, it's just not as powerful as the one we get with GNU/Linux.

I think the command is mklink?

Intel Xeon: Its to expensive =( and as far as I read, there isn't a big difference between xeon and core 2 processors for running hlds
Inet: Yes, actually I'm getting 20MB
HD: Joking? why the hell would I want 1TB for hlds servers :\
Ram: Why not :\ in XP I cant put more than 3GB, in server 2003 idk, but in vista, and 2008 its really upper the limit

Are they going to have a bunch of downloadable content?

Memory limits per OS edition can be found here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa366778.aspx

Also, the "PC" you are wanting shouldn't be a PC, it should be a Server. Don't confuse the term PC with Server as they are completely different.

Also, I would always recommend a hardware level RAID setting for servers.
