Just a notice: If you have this + a large number of zombies your server will most likely start crashing.

I ran this with Infected Spawner and it was crashing my server due to the amount of gore effects being ran.

Yes if you are able to produce over a thousand blood animations you will get edict overflow.

no i know that im just simply letting other users know to be nice, don't get me wrong your plugin is great i love it put it on my other l4d server that i dont have that mod on and its great fun, only thought tho would make it for if you shoot the tank a chunk of flesh comes off or something, make it even more gory.

It's a nice plugin but it drops my fps by more than 10 and I have a 8800 GT. It also uses so much CPU.

Is anyone else getting lag at the beginning of maps when the first couple infected are killed? All clients experience it simultaneously. After that there are generally no slowdowns throughout the map. My setup is decently fast for a little l4d (c2d [email protected], 4GB DDR2, 1.5/768 adsl). I imagine the server has to load the gibs into memory or something. Thoughts?

@acetone
yes, me too... i've just set up sourcemod/metamod + Gore on my linux server yesterday (running well with basic defaults options from few months).
I've experienced too a big lag, like a windows crash preparing you know, at the same moment (first zombie killed on a new map loaded). After it's ok during all the time.

I've thought about my "old school" server, but if it's the same lag on your c2d [email protected] 4GB DDR2...

Have you test without Gore? same thing ?

I just tried 4 different ways thinking pingboost might be the problem. Here are my results (I restarted the server every time I tried a different setup):

w/gore plugin and pingboost- lag spikes during first few kills in a map
w/gore plugin and no pingboost- lag spikes during first few kills in a map
without gore plugin and with pingboost- no spikes
without gore plugin and without pingboost- no spikes

Maybe there is a way to pre-load or cache whatever is causing this problem?

I've been having the lag spikes on first special infected kill for awhile now, but it wasn't serious enough to cause complaints. It's always the first special/boss infected killed each map load. And it's definitely the Gore plugin doing it.

If it ever gets fixed, cool. If not, I'm pretty used to the little spikes by now, lol.

this plugin is so cool, so it's not a pb to wait for a little lag at beginning of a map

perhaps yeah, may be caching this effect should be better, but i haven't any ideas about "what is programming" just can sit and wait :p lol
