I'm thinking of buying a laptop in addition to the desktop that I'm on now, and I was wondering if there was any way to synchronize the 2 computers. If so, has anyone done it? How did you do it? Were you happy you did it?

Yes there is a way if you mean to "sync" the hardware, this was a project I was going to do a couple years ago where you can use linux to create a master/slave relationship between the computers in which they share the hardware of each machine. This is also known as making a cluster.

Some different docs you might like.

http://openmosix.sourceforge.net/ins..._clusters.html

This should make installing the software easier assuming you choose to do so, but I dont think your going to install too many machines at the moment.

And here is a DIY

Best of luck to you. The only reason why I didnt finish was because the computers I was working with were too damaged to be repaired (free shit) so I just tossed it out.

How about certain folders between 2 computers? Something that will run as a service and that will sync when idle if low bandwidth (wouldn't make sense to sync everything when using VPN) would be nice...
