Hi there.
I saw some posts about reading the client's IPv6 address from amx mod x (which is not my thing at all).
Is there any way of doing something similar in sourcemod?
I didn't try with GetClientIP as at the moment I have access only to ipv4 isp's, and couldn't find any former threads on the forum about this possibility.

Cheers for the info

srcds doesn't support IPv6, so I doubt SourceMod does.

what happens to people that try to connect to it with ipv6 then? do ISPs somehow default to ipv4 for them in such case?

I'm fairly certain that there are still no Internet users who don't have IPv4 connectivity. Correct me if I'm wrong, though.

They will get rejected because they won't be able to route the IP since SRCDS (and HLDS) can only be bound to IPv4 addresses.

There is no reason not to have an ipv4 address for legacy support. But there is also no reason to disable ipv6. People should be adapting ipv6 as its about 15 years old now, but they don't seem to be. Many consumer networking hardware often does not support ipv6 or does not have it enabled by default. Also, lots of devices are still only working with the ipv4 protocol. Iirc cisco switches ship with ipv6 routing disabled. This is unfortunate, because ipv6 is much faster and efficient. It also does not suffer from slowdown as the network grows like ipv4. Sure you can use switching and vlans to relieve network congestion, but ipv6 takes care of this on its own.

Even if your part of your network doesn't support ipv4, you can still encapsulate ipv6 traffic if need be.
