So, who was up for the release date on Portal?

And does anyone even own it / have any interest in it?

It's such an awesome idea ... and so much fun.

Though I've only played 20 minutes since it came out a 8am and I had to go to work. Backstards.

I get the feeling I'll be whoring up the Portal from 6 pm until work tomorrow :-D

EDIT: Oh, if you haven't even heard of it it's a Source puzzle game where you have to get around by using portals.
You can create 2 portals ( you shoot a wall with your portal gun ) and travel between them at will.
And you can travel other things between them ... so put portals underneath a box and it will come out at the other one.

Um, if people bought the Orange Box, they have Portal. So, everyone who has TF2, also has Portal. Me, I don't feel like playing Source games yet.

I switched to CSS a week ago. TBH, I find the old HL engine better, despiting the ugliness.

CSS is a fair bit lame tbh.

I still don't understand that ... HL2 is just godly.
There's virtually nothing you can fault it on.

And CS rocks ... so how can CS:S possibly not?

Naturally CS:S is a wicked game, and damned good fun, but it just isn't counter-strike.

It's very similar, and in a lot of ways a lot better, but the "counter-strikeyness" has somehow gone.

I think people are against Source in general because of CS:S and what it did to CS.

But you can't deny the inherent awesome in the Source engine.

I thought that. Then I realised a few funky things:

$50 is f*** all in our English pounds.

It's at most about half of the cost of the games.

TF2 is *easily* worth $50

I can get my g/f to buy me the Orange Box (how, I do not know, but she did :-D )

You get gift certificates for any of the games you already own.

Personally:

CS 1.6 > CS:S (dislike recoil and much of the gameplay in general)
HL2 = HL (For some reason HL2 make me want to finish as HL did. Score is biased since I only went through part of HL2).
DoD:S > DoD (yeah I know alot of people here like DoD more but mehh).
Haven't tried TF2 yet, so I can't compare it to TFC, but it looks 1337.
