Looking for an relatively inexpensive redirect service. Suggestions plz and also are people still able to use google drive?

I think you're jumping around in the different definitions of things...

What exactly does a such "redirect service" do, in your opinion?

In his case he's probably talking about a download server for custom content.
I would suggest www.hostgator.com as any free service is going to be really slow.
Google Drive and DropBox are both capable but do have caps on the amount of bandwidth a file can have.

Well, people were hoping that the map workshop (which I mention because I know you host TF2 servers) would help alleviate FastDL issues.

However, it makes several assumptions:

That the only custom content you want to host are maps.
That the map workshop actually works¹.
That the maps you want are actually on the workshop.

¹I mean, I alone have discovered 4 bugs on the server-side for the TF2 Map Workshop since the last update, 3 of which I reported to Valve on June 19th. The 4th was reported to Valve by psychonic on June 28th after he confirmed it and added a workaround in SourceMod 1.8's FindMap until it gets fixed.

Host it on the same box as your dedicated server (I installed Apache on my MvM server). Cost: 30 minutes of your time

I actually use nginx for that, but close enough.

I don't have a dedicated server.

Yeah I all ready use a different provider, which I have had for years, but SOOO much stuff now don't want to over extend my welcome so looking for something to split bandwidth.

You don't give a fuck, and then what? Trying to be offending, or how should I understand that?

Web space (and "fast download") is one thing. A redirection service is a completely different thing; it only serves the purpose of redirecting - and not hosting your content...

A redirection service on top of a web server (used for "fast download") would only serve one purpose - to cause additional round trips and reduce the overall performance of the downloads.

Anyway, if you don't give a fuck about anything, you shouldn't have asked at all to begin with.
