Reply With Quote #1

I tried to put another WAV file as a headshot sound. Obviously Murphy knew very well what he was saying with his laws, so it doesn't work What i did:

FIRST TRY:
  • deleted server file /hlds/cstrike/sound/misc/headshot.wav (server running on linux BTW )
  • added new headshot.wav file in /hlds/cstrike/sound/misc ( I paid attention to use an identical name with the deleted orginal file, of course)
  • restarted server
RESULT: Headshot sound completely disabled in game (every other ultimate_sounds sounds are played, except headshot )

SECOND TRY:
  • closed game on my PC
  • deleted file CS directory/cstrike/sound/misc/headshot.wav ( I thought this will make the server upload the new file and make it work )
  • restarted game
RESULT: At connection, the server uploads the new sound to my PC (it shows "downloading sound/misc/headshot.wav" ), but during gameplay the sound is the old standard one ( WTF ??? )

THIRD TRY:
  • Deleted sound/misc/headshot.wav and /sound/misc/headshot.wav.ztmp from server
  • Modified ultimate_sounds.sma so that it loads a sound called headshot_new instead of headshot
  • Compiled the SMA
  • Replaced the resulted plugin with the original one in cstrike/addons/amxmodx/plugins
  • Copyied the new headshot file headshot_new.wav in cstrike/sound/misc
  • Deleted my headshot file on my PC
RESULT: At connection, the server uploads the new headshot_new.wav sound to my PC (it shows "downloading sound/misc/headshot_new.wav" ), but during game, the headshot sound is THE ORIGINAL !!!

How da hell can I change ultimate_sound wavs to put whatever wav file I want ??? Damn, I thought this should be easy...

1. stop your server
2. delete .ztmp files
3. open the ultimate sounds sma
4. replace all headshot.wav with the name of the new file
5. for safe measure rename the sma file
6. compile
7. remove the ultimate sounds from your plugins.ini
8. and then add the new files name
9. start your server

If it doesn't work I don't know what else to tell you.

You probably need to add cue points to your wav file.

and one more tip don't make the headshot sound file name the same as the old one cuz some ppl won't hear it then they will hear the old one since they already pre-cashed it.
and
1. you don't need to stop ur server
2. all you do is open the ultimate sound or misstats w\e u using and edit the sound dir..de-compile and replace the new .amxx file under plugins thats it... if u need help with it just PM me i did it before..
3. End

I did all that. Did't try to give the plugin another name though ( renamin the sma, compiling it, deleting ultimate_sounds.amxx from plugins folder and pasting there my new plugin, and it's name, of couse, in plugins.ini ).

I doubt that. i've heard a lot of many different sounds on many many many servers and I don't think they're all computer-geeks like me to spend nights trying to do these things

k007 - please read what I said in my first post, word-by-word. After U actually read what I said, post again. U're telling me to do exactly what I said I already did... how useful is that ????
