Here's some info for yah:
My pub server which was updated after both the Classless patch and the mini-update after that shows x06 as black text.
My Idle server which was updated after the classless patch but not the mini-update still shows the text as yellow-green.
I'm gonna tinker around with my code for a bit, I'll post back if I find anything.

Well I *think* they way it's working is that the color appears black until you see a real 'item found' notification, then after that the color can be accessed. It also looks to be on the client's side rather then the server.

Guys this isn't valve being a meany.

The reason it's like this is because it can be more than one color, not just yellow. It's black since it doesnt know what color it's supposed to be yet.
