I don't believe community servers are used for casual match-making. Only official Valve servers are being used at the moment.

Please correct me if I'm wrong though.

Thanks.

As far as I can tell, that's true.

The only messages from Valve to community servers owners have been the announcements of new updates.

It's possible that community servers will never be used for Casual mode.

Having said that, a lot of players are disliking the new Casual mode. Apparently community server populations are reaching their highest numbers in years as Valve's servers are no longer the "drop-in" type gameplay TF2 has had for almost 9 years now.

Oh right, did I mention Valve's servers no longer show up in the Server Browser?

As already explained above, you can't put your server in any of the "match making" modes except MVM, and even then I don't think non-valve MVM servers track progress but I've never looked into it. Currently the only way you are going to get server traffic is by people opening the server browser and deciding that they want to play on your server

As it should be.

It would be better if it wasn't 90% trade servers.

I hope this question is related enough to this thread... because this is the closest place I've found to ask it. I've been running an MVM server for about a year now.... I have always used it as a training server meaning I pop in and out as 7th player when people start arguing, not cooperating or are stuck on a wave. Ever since this latest round of changes, I can no longer get the server with any of my plugins to let me become an active player.. only spectator.

Anyone know how to work around this? I really don't think I'll continue running a server if I can't connect to my own server and play at will.

Oh yeah... we reported a bug to Eric Smith about them breaking our mvm servers and allowing 10 players to join (with no plugins installed). I think their fix to that may have broke your thing... oops...

Although a plugin should be able to override it. Just call ChangeClientTeam on yourself in sourcepawn to team 2.

Yeesh... so I'll have to write my own plugin for this if I understand right?

Is Quickplay officially dead? How are your communities coping?
