okay.. so i have a dedicated server and i go to run it so my buddy and i can play on it. I can get on it fine but he cant find it in the "server list" so he clicks on the friends tab.. sees it and clicks on it.. it says "server not responding"

i am NOT running a router. does anybody know why this happens?

i dont have a router

and another friend of mine can get on the server.. but my other buddy cant.. i told him try opening some ports on his firewall but he didnt think thats what it was. i do think its his firewall..

He must be connecting to wrong IP/Port

i'd find out exactally what the friend that can connect types in to connect. perhaps friend number two is leaving out the port number.

ps the port number comes after the : so like xx.xx.xxx.xxx:portnumber
i believe the default is 27015, but for my ded i always used 27016, dont remember why.

Just give him your IP no port, it will scan automaticly, that might work.

no.. he doesnt connect like that.. sorry.. i must of confused you guys..

when he goes into his steam friends list he clicks on my name and he clicks "join game" usually that takes you to the server that person is playing on but it says "Server not responding for him. and he cant find it in the server list..

where as the friend who can connect can find it in the server list and can connect with no problems.

Get your IP and give it to him

Steam might register the IP as your internal IP
