Vista has a good network stack, but I guess Ubuntu 8.04 had a superior one. It's also possible the lines were congested more during Vista speedtest, but they were only a few minutes apart so I doubt that.

Soft limit maybe through Vista but not Ubuntu?

I have Comcast, and they cap my shit all the time, even though I have a better possible download speed.

This is my latest speedtest (I do these more than a fat kid eats cake). This was done on my MSI Wind U100-432US with a Ralink Wireless N card sitting in Statistics class on wireless G WPA network:



Not too shabby considering many people use their laptops on the internet around here. It is very variable because people come and go a lot, but that's pretty good for wireless keeping me occupied during class, lol.
