Let's be fair here...

Pretensions: I've never used a non-steam anything and I've never ban evaded.

Contextually, banning users for saying they associate with non-steam servers without asking for help or support is idiotic. That's like banning someone for saying they visit thepiratebay.org regularly. You never know what they use it for or why they are associating themselves with it.

I may be an old and useless member in some or everyone's eyes here but my eyes are open to what goes on and the practice of banning anything that says "non-steam" should be abolished. If they ask for support or anything besides a civil discussion, they should be warned of their violation then further action taken.

Unless of course y'all want to be as censoring as China where anything saying "Tiananmen" is annihilated from citizen's viewing...

No they would not have the authority to do that no matter what. A complaint would need to be filed by VALVe which if anything would result in a simple cease and desist letter. A lawsuit could never be filed under any circumstance for Copyright violations if a forum discusses something deemed "illegal" and in this case, the only way infringement would be possible is if we specifically linked to non-steam files or advised how to circumvent steam. By not doing that, there is nothing to worry about.

Talking about non-steam is not like discussing how to kill a leader, it's not illegal to discuss it...

Please, I do not want to necessarily associate myself with anyone's particular beliefs. I just think it is not fair to generalize anything non-steam to being bad because yes it is bad but some people are unformed...
