ConVar sv_consistency violation (bad query result)

Hi,

I recently noticed that many players began to be banned for the reason:

SMAC 0.8.4.0: ConVar sv_consistency violation (bad query result)

We have also received complaints from players banned for this reason because 'used SteamPipeBeta'. Then after connecting to the server was banned.

Is there any link to this happen? That's can REALLY happen ?

Or that's because the player is bad sly, and is inventing an excuse?

Might want to add the updater if you can't keep up with the versions on your own.
