Spawn teleporter entrances are easy to get and people can get points for it. If they were buildable in spawn then we wouldnt have to worry about them getting sapped every second. Can someone make a plugin to make teleporter entrances only buildable in spawn? Is this a good idea?

I would think if I was an engi it would be cheap for a spy to come over and sap my entrance since theres no possible way an engi will unsap it.

@DWN: that's sort of the game dynamic, it would be unfair to give the engi the ability to turtle more. I'm not saying therefore the plugin shouldn't be done - by all means anyone should be able to do what they want to their own server - just that the one thing preveting the engi from completely turtling is his entrance.

Well it gets kind of stat padding when an engi builds a teleporter then it gets sapped then u rebuild it and it gets sapped on and on.

I liked the idea! It would be nice to have a plugin that would allow you to build whatever you want in respawns.

Says the person with 55 posts to the person with 1,435.

Karma has yet to amaze me. A GOOD spy would go sap the sentrys that are on the battlefront that are stopping your team from advancing instead of going to sap a teleporter that usually doesnt even have an exit and maybe even spawn camping by backstabbing red as they come out of spawn.

In a map I modded, I carved out a corner in the respawn room where teleporters could be placed and I marked around the area with a hazard strip. Maybe there's some property in func_respawnroom that allows you to build in it. I'm pretty sure it doesn't though because I had to do the above as a work-around.

You can always use the zm_grabber pluggin that naris and LDuke made for TF2 and simply allow your engies to build the teles outside and then carry them back in. Downside to this is they will use the same tool to toss their teles across the map and beyond player clip brushes to get outside the standard player areas.

To my knowledge there is no way to kill or edit the size the func_respawnroom room brush but if you could do that it would allow engies to build in the spawn room without any server side mods. You may be able to 'disable' it but I think that would jack around with the ability for players to spawn for that team.

Geez, talk about bring a post back from the dead...
Better than creating a duplicate though eh?

I'm searching for any way to allow engies to build their entrances within the spawn area. I used to use the Linux extension posted above until I moved to a new server provider, this one being a Windows box.

Has anyone become aware of a way to accomplish this on such a configuration?
