Reply With Quote #1

I was planning to upgrade to 1.9 but someone said it's not stable yet and yet they recommended
that you need to stay on 1.8+ version. Is it recommended to use the dev build or should i stick to
stable version. Please i hope you guys answer soon bcuz i cannot think enough whether should i upgrade or not. *sigh*

Also, the reason is

I just wanted to upgrade to 1.9+ because of its compatibility support of ReHLDS and ReGameDLL
and also it has many bug fixes even tho they're not that many and developers improved the stability and performance of the game
when using many plugins. But i still need some feedbacks or suggestions from you guys whose using this dev build.

"If i posted this in wrong section, please let me know. It's my first time making a thread. Thank you very much."

1.9 is practically stable. Just not much development cause the devs are busy.
There is nothing wrong with using it, let alone its preferred.

I will consider it to upgrade if i have some time.

And oh i have another question, What's the point of 1.10 version?
Someone said that it has some new functions and new codes.

It does, although I wouldn't say its as stable as 1.9. Has its own perks of course but you'd have to honestly review the changelog to see the changes

Oh, they have changelog about that. I mean i didn't find any info about 1.10 version. I guess they are keeping it secret? Oh well, thanks so much for replying tho.
So about 1.10 version, does it have backwards compatibility like the 1.9?
I mean someone said that they rewritten some of the codes in eariler version right?

(I apologize in advance for annoying you if i ask too many questions.)

Nothing is secret, the entire source code and its history for all versions are on github.com. However, that doesn't mean everything is properly documented or easy to read.

I'd say, for you, you should use version 1.9 unless you find a plugin that specifically requires 1.10. Nearly all plugins from 1.8.2 should run on 1.9. If you have issues with a specific plugin, you can always ask about it.

If you are using reHLDS and reGameDLL definitely use 1.9. The 1.9 version has some patches and updates made specifically for reHLDS
