Hey installed the plugin, played 4v4 on dark carnival seemed to run into an issue though.

When i went to the admin menu and made one of the survivors a VIP (making two VIP's in total one created by me in admin menu other by the .cfg / plugin) that teams round ended after they made it too the safe room.

Then when it was the other team turn to go survivor, we all noticed (as survivors) we could see one of the SI with a glow around him even when he was in ghost mode or had spawned (the same glow color as a VIP with full health and the color never changed even when his smoker or such was losing health).

The concern is that if i chose a player fromt he admin menu to be a VIP then the following rnd that particular players Special infected will remain witha glow outlining him too the other team.


When it was auto picked based on one player this issue didn't arise.

Also when starting the game, the VIP couldnt choose a weapon only a pistol'(s), but after a few different maps ppl were picking up shotguns or other weapon types they could find when they were VIP.

I do run itemgiver on my server (found here: https://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?p=1131184) and at the start of the rnd (for me atleast the itemgiver didn't override the VIP plugin setting, but i was able to pick up a primary weapon later on in the map, I will have to run a few more games before i can say it does give out items over ridign the plugin or not though as that *might*not always be the case as far as i am aware.)

Not sure if the second issue could be resolved with a timer check the enforce the client is only using pistol'(s) or some other method i have no clue but figured it best to post what i have found so far.


BTW-the server was full and not one person left the game it was enjoyed by everyone and really is fun.

I am checking it out now. I believe I found the cause of the glow remaining and fixed that. Now I just need to figure out why the Prez is able to pick up weapons when he shouldn't be able to.

I have been unable to duplicate the picking up primary weapons by the Prez so far. If anyone can give me a specific circumstance that they can duplicate, it would help. In the meantime, I will keep trying to make it happen.

Well... this plugin works nice on my COOP server.

Unfortunately there are a few problems:

As said above, the Prez can pick up primary weapons, but not in the safe.
He can pick up only primary weapons spawned in the outer side (floor, tables etc).

Another point is using plugin Gear Transfer.
If I (even a bot) give a medkit to the Prez, he is able to cure himself.
I mean, the Prez canīt pick up medkits but can "receive" them.
A little improvise was to disable the medkits transfers in the plugin .

I hope these erros can be fixed.
Anyway, the plugin is awesome and I am using it in one of my COOP servers.

Yeh if the president / VIP tries to grab a weapon of the table at start area for example he will only get a 9mm pistol, but if he finds one laying on the ground dropped say by another player after picking up another primary weapon then he can grab that and use it.

Same with melee weapon, and the Medkit given by a bot or player when using the gear transfer plugin as Zbeer mentions in his post overrides the .cfg setting when the .cfg is set not to allow the President / VIP to carry and or use one. (see below)

I was missing a detail.
I use Round Start Items Giver and at beginning of every round and the players receives a Magnum pistol (even the Prez).
This is great because the player chosen to be the Prez has a better gameplay and many servers have the infecteds overpowered (e.g. my servers).
So... two suggestions:
Donīt block the Prez to receive the Magnum in case of some adjustments (just let as is);
or
Create a cvar where is possible to choose 9mm or Magnun to the Prez.

OK, to get the weapons thing working reliably, I ended up switching to using SDKHooks. So it now depends on that to work.

I added the ability for the President to get/carry a Magnum.

I also believe I have the glow thing fixed, but let me know just in case.

Please delete the old config, so the new convars can get written correctly.

Fantastic seattle ice, really appreciate your efforts in resolving those issues mate.

On a side note the magnum does help alot as Zbeer said some servers like myne also have the Special Infected health tweaked so allowing the magnum for the VIP/President helps.

I run the round start items giver and the Item Transfer plugin so the updates really a big issue for me and i can see for Zbeer also.

I keep getting private messages in steam ppl asking me about the plugin and alot of new clients joining the server saying how this is a really fun mod to play so Kudos to you seattle ice well done mate thx.

EDIT: Any chance on a pre compiled version being posted with the new version please, as i cannot use the compiler through my host who are overzealous about .dll or .exe files on the box being used or etc?

Ok. New tests.
Letīs go to the results:

- The weapon pick up is really fixed. Great.
- The magnum choice. Awesome.

But....

In the first version, when the prez leaves the server, another player was chosen to be the prez and this is not happening now.

Another annoyng stuff is the chat spawn with the messages about weapons.
PrintToChatAll("Weapon: %s", wepclassname); in line 552
This was easy to fix. I inserted a comment at the beggining of line and recompiled the plugin.

Well.. I returned to the first version till the problem with chose another player be fixed.
