Latest versions (updated versions) are usually made to be better than outdated, but yes, none is 100% functional, anyway, I don't cited anything about "what is the best", you can use whatever zp you want. Plugins for zp50 require zp50 running, fact. There's nothing to do wheter plugin is new or no as well there's no way to do that feature in outdated zp without editing its main plugin, at least not one that works correctly, good luck believing that it's possible.

No, the item register name is the one from zp_register_item or zp_item_register(i forgot how the native is called), respectively the item name from inside zp_extraitems.ini
