Max player speed is 400? (CS)

If by default the cl_forwardspeed, ...side, ...back are set to 400 does that mean that's the fastest players can go? In some situations my mod allows players to go faster but only if their client-sided limit is set to a higher value.

Is letting people know a change in commands is necessary for proper play literally the only solution?

I agree player speed should be maintained server side only I don't see any reason why they set a speed limit for the clients to control.

For first question -yes. You can use plugin to change player value for back,forward and side speed to level that your mod requires at certain moment, and after that back to normal.

Um, no, you can't do that. Even if the game allows it, you can't guarantee that the settings will be reverted back when the player leaves. His game can crash, he can lose internet connection, etc, so the server won't be able to do anything.

Your best choice is letting the players know that they should change their settings. I always have mine set to 1000.

That would be considered slowhacking, so, no, even if you ask for player's permission you can't set it (see cl_filterstuffcmd CS April 2019 Update).

Unless the user had the cvar (cl_filterstuffcmd ) set to 0

No one has that, there is no reason to turn this cvar off.

This sucks, we'd probably never be able to have this client limit removed
