You're sure? then they haven't updated this guide https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/SteamCMD
Will make sure to try it as soon as i get home

find -name steamclient.so

"./.steam/steamcmd/linux64/steamclient.so
./.steam/steamcmd/linux32/steamclient.so
./officialhlds/linux64/steamclient.so
./officialhlds/steamclient.so"
Why some people got an SDK32 folder and I don't? I created it manually and applied this symlink "ln -s steamcmd/linux32/steamclient.so ~/.steam/sdk32/steamclient.so" but nothing works

What part are you asking if I am sure?
Since around before they released the half-life 25th anniversary, it was required to have an account that had the game to download it via steamcmd. Won't work any other way.

There is also a steam_legacy branch which downloads the older version of cs/valve/etc. whereas the regular build downloads the post 25th anniversary.

Just somewhere that isn't where the Steam client stores its files. I use ~/games/servers/hlds. Never do anything with the "root" user for a game server.

I'm not sure what you're looking for. Just install the server via SteamCMD in a new location not anywhere near the Steam files.

I downloaded both the current version and the steam_legacy version of "cstrike" anonymously.

Recently? This has been a requirement for a while now from my understanding. This is why panels require this game to have the client input user data to download it. Unless something changed recently, it’s still being required (ie pterodactyl panel)

Yes, in this very thread when I said "I just installed "cstrike" with a single run of steamcmd on Linux.". I know it works because at first I misspelled "anonymous" and it was asking me for a password. Once I fixed my spelling, it worked without any login. This is the command I used:

Code:
steamcmd +force_install_dir ~/games/servers/test_steam_legacy +login anonymous +app_set_config 90 mod cstrike +app_update 90 -beta steam_legacy +quit
I did this with both the steam_legacy beta and without.

There's another more basic less labor intensive approach. Make a new profile and start over without legacy and with proper 32-bit architecture. As per Wiki. SteamCMD Wiki got a bit corrupted and misleading pushing pirated software that behaves more like a virus than anything legitimate I have seen in decades.

Did you reply to the wrong thread? There is nothing wrong with the Wiki about downloading a server via SteamCMD that I am aware of. In this very thread, I copied the command to use to download Counter-Strike 1.6 and it worked perfectly, several times.

I replied to this thread. Thanks for the concern. SteamCMD is legit. apt install steamcmd. Using legacy means RE often times. Somebody hacked up the Wiki there pushing REHLDS. When I used it got virus like behavior. The likes of which I have never seen before. Fed up with their push of illegal gray software.

RE nearly wormed one of my profiles.

What I was saying is consistent with every corporation in existence. Profile rebuilds is what some people call them if it is a username with tons of data.
