Hi guys,

I've been compiling my own SourceMod extensions for a while now. However, I've been using GCC 4.4 for Linux builds (and Visual Studio 2010 for Windows builds) to do it.

When reading the Metamod:Source Environment guide, I noticed it mentioned that GCC 4.1 was used for compiling, but it also mentions that the guide is for MM:S 1.7. What version of GCC is recommended for MM:S 1.8/1.9?

I don't know that it hugely matters.

SM used to use gcc 4.1 for compiling, likely at the time that was written. We currently use gcc 4.4 on linux and clang on mac.

I personally use gcc 4.4.5 now, and used to use gcc 3.4.1 with cygwin and crosstool, which I believe still works.

In general, the newer the version of gcc/clang that you use, the more warnings you'll have to fight in the sdk.

OK, good. I've been using GCC 4.4 on Linux.
