Ok, basically I was going over my CD collection when I stumbled on a DVD from a pc magazine. When I opened it I saw that two Linux distros were included, Slax and Ubuntu (yay!!). Anw, I burned the .iso's on CD's and tried to boot Slax from the CD drive (!). In a few minutes I was running Slax Linux (!). I was like wtf!!1, these Linux thingies are fastt and setup quickly... When the slax main page came up I was amused to the general look of its GUI, which if tweaked a bit could overrun the one Windows XP use (pretty nice for a 177mb distro). I loved Linux, so I'd like to use other distros too, so my question is:

What is the best Linux distro?

Distro= distribution

Of course, Slax is a live cd, hence it's small size. I for one am a big fan of Slackware. Gentoo is another good distro. No one can tell you what the best is though, because everyone has different tastes. That's really what distro's are about, someone didn't like what was being offered, so they cooked up their own little thing.

Yeah, I've seen it. Very nice but you must pay to use it

Is Freespire the same thing??

Anyway, I just saw some screenshots of fedora core 5 and it looks good, I'm gonna try it out. Oh, and Slax can be installed on a hard disk as any other distro, however the maker doesnt support it so much

Hmm, slackware is almost the same(and better) as Slax but has more things into it (and a harder installation, or so it seems )
