My Norton anti-virus expired, and shortly after that I had problems with my counter strike (It would freeze at parsing game info when joining a server, or it would just freeze while I was playing in a server.) could a virus have done this to my cs?

I'm running AVG too.
I'm also behind a i686 linux-based firewall (Ip-cop, also running proxy server and url filter with it). Woot?
