Metamod:Source versions 1.6.2 and 1.4.4 have been released. These are bug-fix releases to address some long-standing minor issues.

We'd like to thank "omega" at Valve for notifying us of a potential compatibility bug in Metamod:Source against an upcoming Orange Box SDK update, which has been verified and fixed in 1.6.2.

Fixed a bug where VDF files were opened by MM:S even if the .vdf extension was not at the very end of the filename. For example, "plugin.vdf.disabled" would have been opened in previous versions.

I always use ".disable", ".backup" and ".old" extensions so:

Hey, does this fix an issue with today's TF2 update? I told an admin on a server I visit about this fix when said server stopped responding after the first round's Waiting For Players time-out.

If the server loads with MM:S then most likely any crashes are not related to MM:S, and are rather a crash in the game or a plugin.

Well, actually, it sounds like it was more complicated than that (The server wouldn't start at all afterwards, no clue why it got to the Waiting For Players round once... possibly it was restarted during the update?), but installing the new version of MM:S did fix the problem.
