The chainsaw in l4d2, how do I add more damage to it for my server?

I tryed opening up the chainsaw config txt file. It was set to 88 damage I think. I tryed upping it to 400 by doing a new vpk package addon mod.
But it has no effect ingame.

It doesnt matter if I set damage to 1 or 9000. It still takes equal time to kill an special infected.

I saw Silver had made this here. But I have no idea at all, what to do with it. Or if its even what I need.
