hello,

i host game server od linux (Centos) dedicated server and i want to achieve better performance game servers predominantly Counter Strike 1.6 servers.

I saw on google a couple karnela intended for it,but what kernel you recommend ( could use a tutorial to install ) ?
Do you recommend anything else except the kernel ?

except Counter Strike 1.6, i host SA:MP and Half Life 1 servers.

Thanks for reading (and sorry for bad english)

I use Ubuntu Server and planning to rebuild kernel with 1000 HZ (250 default), no more.

Ubuntu is more common = more support and compatibility.

PS: The affinity to a CPU and a high priority need for maximum performance.

Thanks for answers,if anyone has any experience or a better suggestion, please him to write

I would like to put on a dedicated server as many servers without lag,
fps does not matter to me (300 is fine), only important is that servers dont have a lag,
do you think that is for that best above written Ubuntu server 12.04 lts + kernel lowlatency

Do you think that the game files affect the performance of the server ?
Do anyone know any game files for cs 1.6 for what better performance?

Not worth it...

Ubuntu server 12.04 lts + kernel lowlatency + The affinity to a CPU and a high priority = maximum performance.

PS: Try not to have many plugins and not have unnecessary things in the operating system...

Depends on how many servers and have slot, 100MB is usually enough, with up to 12 servers 32 slot (sv_maxrate 25000) or 3 servers 32 slot (sv_maxrate 100000), which only refers broadband but core advise one server, for example I have a dedicated xeon 8 cores and I have 8 servers.

If there is little economic difference I would opt for 1GB, although relatively equal ping will have more bandwidth to create servers.

ok, what you think how much servers i can put on this dedicated server:

Quote:
Intel® Core™ i7-4770
Quadcore Haswell
incl. Hyper-Threading Technology
RAM32 GB DDR3 RAMHard Drive2 x 2 TB SATA 6 Gb/s 7200 rpm
HDD (Software-RAID 1)
Class EnterpriseConnection 1 Gbit/s-PortGuaranteed Bandwidth 200 Mbit/sBackup Space100 GBInclusive Traffic20 TB*
and how much on this:

Quote:
Festplatte: 2 x 2.000 GB SATA II
Prozessor: Intel Core i7-3770 mit HT
Leistung: 4 x 3,40 GHz mit HT
Arbeitsspeicher: 32 GB DDR3-RAM
Backup-Space: 50 GB
Fair-Flat : 100 Mbit
Let's say that on each server at any given moment there are 20 players
and that the server is in average 28 slots

They are good machines to avoid interference between servers, I would opt for 1 server per core, plus will keep 1000 fps easily, however if you have multiple servers in the same core affect performance negatively.

Normally many create multiple servers on the same core but they know that sacrifice performance, although you should do tests, you have good machines.

it is not my machine but I plan to buy it

I heard that some hostings in Serbia hold up to 40 servers on dedicated server.
I do not want to name them because of advertising, but I have played on their servers and no lag.

I think it was 300 fps
