AMD X2 4600+ - 2 x 2.4Ghz 512Kb L2 cache per core.
2GB PC3200 ram.
Sata-320 80GB 7200 8MB cache hard drive.

Using Redhat 14 OS

Running a couple more servers on the root but the ship server was the first to be put on there and i have been trying to put MM:S on since day 1.

Hope this information is useful. Just one other thing is that when i start up the server theres no error corresponding to the MM:S or gameinfo.txt which i find strange as if the server couldnt define the plugin then surely there would be a error occur?

HL2's GameBin/Game lines specify where the GameDLL might be, so if it doesn't find one for some reason, it silently fails and moves onto the next possible path.

I haven't had time to look into this yet but I will as soon as I can.

Please try Metamod:Source 1.3a which was just released recently. This should allow you to run SourceMM with The Ship on Linux.

The problem was that the vstdlib_i486.so with The Ship is older than what would be found with Counter-Strike: Source or any other mod actually using the SrcDS installation directory. After doing some debugging I discovered the reason SourceMM was not loading was due to unresolved symbols. It wasn't finding V_strcasecmp. V_strcasecmp is part of the latest Source SDK in tier1/strtools.cpp and is used by convar.cpp which is included in the SourceMM binary on Linux. The standard SrcDS installation contains a vstdlib_i486.so that has V_strcasecmp and thus you wouldn't have problems with CS:S or DOD:S. Adding strtools.cpp to the SourceMM makefile has fixed this issue for The Ship.

The reason 1.3 works on the Windows version of The Ship is that it statically links to tier1.lib which contains the updated strtools.cpp with V_strcasecmp.
