I cant get my fast download to work on gmod, i am hosting the fast download my self using xampp and it is correctly setup beecause i can acess the files through my extenal ip adress. In my server.cfg i have tried:

"sv_downloadurl" "http://**.***.***.***/garrysmod/"
"sv_allowupload "1"
"sv_allowdownload "1"

I have also tried replacing the 1's with 0's

"sv_downloadurl" "http://**.***.***.***/orangebox/garrysmod/"
"sv_allowupload "1"
"sv_allowdownload "1"

In the fast download is have the following folders:
gamemodes,
maps,
materials,
models,
sound.

Does any one know how i can fix this? Thanks.

I just went through this same thing 2 days ago. Turns out my provider, for some reason I can't understand, pointed my domain towards a different folder. Drove me insane. Anyway, if you were to upload something like a picture to that folder "garrysmod" and navigate there in a browser would you be able to see it?

Yes if i upload a picture and go to the location i can see it, this is why i am confused as to why it dosn't work.

OK good, just thought I would rule that out since I just went through it a few days ago, it drove me nuts. So what is happening when you connect to the server?

I have a webserver on a 1GB/s line which unlimited space. If you want to, I can create an FTP account to you, so you can use it for fastdownload. It works extremely well, and is very fast.

I have no doubt that it would solve your problem :-)

What do you mean by when i connect to the server, do you mean the ip address if so then i can see the directory and all the files inside it.

I believe he means what happens when you connect to the game server, in this case Garrys Mod. Does it return any messages about the FastDL URL that you use? Or does it just automatically revert to downloading the map from your server itself?

While I understand you're just trying to be a nice guy, I would genuinely discourage giving a random person over the internet FTP access to your webserver. Just don't do it.

Your url should look like this

sv_downloadurl "http://yourhost.com/cstrike"

inside cstrike you put all the materials, sounds and so on. This is working for me and alot of other swedish communities.

sv_allowdownload 1
sv_allowupload 1
net_maxfilesize 100

I am unsure if the order that the cvars are read is important, but I do know that this works for me

Why not? He will only get an FTP account to a folder, nothing else!?

Besides that, he can try and hack it all he wants - there is nothing there. Only SourceBans.. Haha
