Definitely not. The AMX Mod X section is already bloated with useless stuff, advertisements would only create more hassle and require constant moderation.

There are tons of ways to advertise your server, you just need to be creative. Besides, I really doubt you would get much players from here. The users are scattered through the world and most are plugin writers, not players.

You'd get like 1 player more, at max. If you look at some of the amx scripters here they bearly have any game play hours for that game they script for. So it's pointless, and why advertise here when you can advertise there?

Here's an idea that maybe even you could possibly do:

Go to proboards.com and open a free forum specifically where people can advertise their gameserver.

All you would need to do is create categories for each game.

Then all anybody would have to do is create a new thread indicating the server address, maybe even the address for their website (if they have one) and maybe even list plugins that their server uses and their map rotation.

That would then provide a "one stop shop" for people, and maybe even reduce some peeps from advertising in places like this.

Of course, that would then lead to some serious work for you. Like keeping it current. It seems to me that it would be much like somebody hanging signs for some yard sale and not removing them after the sale is over. You make people go out of their way perusing through these lists that aren't around anymore (probably why such postings in places like this is frowned upon). But don't let that stop you!

I just read in the Steam WIKI that in 2010 they offered over 1,400 games (how many may be multiplayer, I don't know). But just imagine creating 1,400 sections in your new forum and keeping it current! Wouldn't that be fun?

This is just my way of giving you an idea about thinking something through. If you can't be bothered to do it, why do you wish a place like this to do it?

ConnorMcLeod, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons: 1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system? 2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

This whole idea has got the fluids flowing in mind I guess.

Here's some additional thoughts about the concept I presented above.

They say, "For every rule, there is the exception".

Maybe yours could be the exception. Maybe AM would create a "sticky" in here specifically for your new forums. Of course, I would then imagine that along with that they would offer a disclaimer of sorts indicating something along the lines of "enter at your own risk" and "not affiliated with AM", etc.

That would then provide all sorts of people with a link to your forums and give you a lot of traffic. Then when peeps go posting links for virus' and such and you're the only one to keep the forums clean and current, you'll have your hands full with those too.

...or at the very least give you cause to shut it down all together.

But hey, don't let me dissuade you. I think that you obviously feel strong about this and you are up to the task, and I for one have every bit of confidence in your abilities and judgment!
