I know this is going to be a sort of stupid question.
But, when I play on the server through 4 player lobby; we only get 4 players max.
But when I tried using the 8 player lobby (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfil.../?id=546656726), players can instantly connect to the server up to 8 players max.


Is there a way to connect to the server through 4 player lobby and have other random people join in? The 8 player lobby mod usually requires 2 players to start the game and sometimes I play alone but want to have 8 players in a single game without the 8 player lobby mod.

Although however (not 100% sure if I remember this correctly), I made the server have 8 bots long ago and players could connect to the server even with 4 player lobby. I could be wrong about this though.

The simple answer is no. Unless you already have 8 or more friends waiting to play with you. In which case you can just tell them to connect directly to the server (assuming of course you have set up SourceMod, MetaMod:Source and L4DToolZ to remove the human limit)

If you want 8 random players to join, you need the 8 player lobby because games / servers dont appear in the matchmaking menu unless it's being played via a lobby and it has free slots.

I suggest you use both 8 players lobby mod and 8 players lobby mutation simultaneously, this way you can start your game with only one player from a 8 players lobby. Cheers!

I was really hoping there could be a way to get 7 randoms to join without the 8 player lobby thing.

Set the lobby permission to public, find a server support 8 or more playes and then people will join you if they like...
