did you make gameinfo.txt read-only?

I hve the same problem... My server version is v1.0.0.23 Linux, Dedicated.

I've uploaded the archives correctly, putted gaminfo to readonly, etc, but it don't work... What happend? Thanks

I got the same problem, I noticed that the gameinfo.txt gets overwritten each time I start the server no matter if its read-only or not!!!

*edit*: Fixed by reading the various other threads. The problem is Steam replacing the gameinfo.txt. So I log onto steam, edit the gameinfo.txt and then start hl2 via a shortcut and *NOT* through the Steam menu!!!

Same thing was happening to me. It's not overwriting the file, it's removing stuff it doesn't like then appending stuff on the end.

It works making the file read-only for me though, even starting through the steam menu (XP, dedicated server)
