version tracking convar hasn't working since July even on Approved plugins... because stats tracking for plugin usage was disabled for performance reasons.

I fully support the dependency tracking for new plugins, though.

How is this plugin different from putting URL inside motd.txt?

Does it download the file only once and then stream it directly from the game server to clients?

This downloads a plain text file and uses it as motd_text.txt, which is sent to clients who either have HTML MOTDs disabled, or who connected to the server using TF2 matchmaking.

Not sure if this plugin is affected, too, but in case I'll repost:
MOTDs now need the "http://" or "https://" prefix. However "about:blank" doesn't work anymore either.

This plugin does nothing with the HTML MOTD. It was also written after that update, so I would have taken it into account.

It wouldn't work. The text MOTD can't have anything HTML-related in it, only plain text. This just downloads the text MOTD from a webserver.

Having issues making the mod work with insurgency... I put the following in the "server_checkpoint.cfg"file:

"motd_text_host" "www.savannahgroup.net"
"motd_text_path" "motd"
"motd_text_write_file" "coop3.html"
