Is there any way to check for files under directories client-side, in such a way that the server asks the client what is there and responds accordingly? Both sv_consistency and sv_pure do nothing in L4D1. I thought I had seen an example plugin or two before, but lost it now.

You canno't check files but convars is possible, atleast some of them. Use SMAC for that.

well you can see if a client have an certain file but you cant check what is in it this or this

I heard that those would only work in certain folders of the game. Not sure which ones.

Which is said to only work for the downloadables folder by the author a few posts down... I'm actually wanting to check the existence of a very specific hack-file located in the materials folder...
