Hello.

Forgive me if there is already something but I've only seen it for recording your own demo.
I was wondering if there is a plug in that will record a demo and save it to the server? So I am running a server with Automix Pug on it. I'd like whenever a match starts for it to record a demo and save it to the server so I can review the demo. Then I know which team won and also check for a hacker if called on.

Thanks to anyone who can point me to the right plugin.

I am aware of HLTV but it appears you can't download it from anywhere anymore?

As far as I know it is included with the game itself.

Well I've been playing since 2002 and far as I remember it was always a separate download. However it would make sense if you install HLDS that it would come with it. Having CS doesn't give you HLTV. I will have to do some more research. I am renting a server currently so I'm not running HLDS. I'm trying to do this because I am thinking about trying to start a league and bring back 1.6 to competition. It's probably a good thing stupidity isn't painful.

I'm renting because my server is currently in pieces right now.

I've only been playing since 2006 so I don't know all the early details. However, if you download any Half-Life game, you're likely to get HLTV and it will be located at the following path:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\Half-Life\hltv.exe

Note that several years ago, Valve reorganized how files for Half-Life are stored on a client's computer such that there is a common location for all of the files for games based on Half-Life (Counter-Strike, Day of Defeat, etc.).

He said that because anybody who is renting a server is guaranteed to be using the Standalone HLDS (Half-Life Dedicated Server).

There are three types of server:
  • Listen Server: When you click on "New Game"
  • Half-Life Dedicated Server: A "game" that you run via Steam (you can't run this server and play on this server on the same PC at the same time)
  • Standalone Half-Life Dedicated Server: A fully standalone server that does not rely on the Steam application. This is the only one that game server providers run. You can technically run this and your game on the same PC but it makes the server unreliable.

Thank you for pointing that out. That is exactly where it is depending on how you installed Steam.
It works perfectly. Just typed connect <server IP> and boom recorded a demo. Thank you.
