i sometimes find myself manually adding an additional ban to my sourcebans simply so i can have a persons SteamID and IPAddress banned from my community. my idea would consist of adding a ban type of "Both" or "IP & Steam ID"; meaning i can go in and edit the ban to ban both their Steam ID and IP Address with a single entry, however, by default, all ban programs will continue to ban only 1 or the other(Steam ID or IP Address). you can only ban "Both" by manually going in and selecting the option, it would just save the time of adding an entirely new entry..

Could be a nice addition since there are often people that are cheating using the same IP but multiple accounts. However, I would advice against banning by IP, since most people can change their IP simply by unplugging their router/modem, which means you are actually banning lots of random people.

Well, that's unlikely. The odds of another person on the internet getting that same IP, launching that same game, and joining that same server after some other person did something to get IP banned? It's not an issue. Future users of that IP address are unlikely to be gamers at all, let alone Steam users.

Now, if the IP ban length was longer than, say, a month, and you auto-banned Steam accounts that attempt to connect from a banned IP? Then you might have a problem on rare occasions.

You'd only risk banning multiple people if you banned via a wildcard on the IP. E.G 123.456.* (Don't think you can on Sourcebans anyway?)
Other than that you don't have much worry about accidentally banning multiple people with just the full IP.

But I would like to see the both feature added.

Or then again, there are student housings that have say 200 IP:s, and a lot of gamers. Since all live in the same place, a lot of them is drawn to the same servers. Therefor you are actively banning other people...

Then again with a week or so ban it is not a problem, and maybe not in a short amount of time with permbans, but when you ban shitloads of people it could become an issue. Therefor: Use IP bans with caution IMHO
