According to Google, the only program that reads them is "Electronic Arts Need for Speed Underground" (in terms of them being a sound file)

Look what I told you. Doing that is illegal, and so, is that illegal as downloading it from inet. Just download the songs from Inet. Its easier (even thought the NSF says the song names) and will have a far better quality.

i dont need the songs. i need engine sounds. background sounds. car sounds. crash sounds i dont think that there is a copyright on this sounds.

i think its legal to record the car engine sound & use it in a plugin. has anyone any ideas?

Sound effects are copyrighted. That's why so many people are concerned with finding royalty-free sounds.
