Hi gH0sTy, really appreciate your work on this plugin. After 6+ years of using this plugin, valve seems to have muddied things with sound precaching for the MvM update. I've had 1000+ sounds on it with no crashes for years, but now it seems any more than a few will cause string table overflows on my servers.

Disabling Saysounds took my crashes from 30 per day across all servers to 0. Do you happen to know if these sounds precache automatically or only after they are played? I'd really like to re-enable it as soon as possible but I need your help!

Naris added a new cvar for precahing sounds which was introduced in version 4.04.
Quote:
sm_saysoundhe_sound_threshold // Number of sounds to precache on map start (-1=unlimited)
The cvar defaults to "0" so sounds should only be precached if they're played.
If you're using a version prior to 4.04 you should update to a newer one and see if you're still getting crashes.

I'm running 4.05 and it's set to 0. I guess there's just too many sounds for the engine to handle anymore

ok ghosty
all of this works fine. but the big problem you've got in CS:GO is that the sounds are coupled with the background music of that game. and the background music of CS:GO is dynamic (ex: if you're died the sounds fade out to less noisy -> then you can't hear them).
is there any way to use a other command or build a special extension to solve this problem? with quakesounds and others you've got the same problems for CS:GO and if the user turns his bg-music quieter or turn it off, then all the sounds are to soften or not audible, too.
Perhaps is there any servercommand to stop the dynamic of the bg-music or something else?
any ideas?

clients dont even try to download the sounds, why is that

sounds are located in music/blablabla folder
i use only mp3
ingame ist trying to play, but missing from disk.....
no pure server

whats my fault?

for your download_url don't use backslash / behind the last folder and if you define a sound don't use a / in front of the path. it will set automatic a / and if you set one it will be doubleslash //

thats the way i did, but the clients dont even try to download something, no error messages in client console while connecting

after typing trigger word: [Sound] S_StartSound(): Failed to load sound 'music\admin_plugin\announcer_attention.mp3'. Can't create mixer.

errors all over saysounds_error.log:
L 08/26/2012 - 194:10: [saysounds.smx] <Send_Sound> INVALID_HANDLE for file "music/admin_plugin/feuerfrei.mp3"
L 08/31/2012 - 22:27:05: [saysounds.smx] <Send_Sound> INVALID_HANDLE for file "music/admin_plugin/announcer_attention.mp3"

Put it so in your server.cfg: sv_downloadurl "your_domain(incl:'http://'in_front)/yourserverfolder"
Next you've to write the path in your saysounds.cfg like this: music/Your_Folder/admin_plugin/feuerfrei.mp3
If you've got still problems, you can contact me in steam. I'd sending my contact-name to you by PM
