Reply With Quote #1

Hi mates

After the Dead Air beta update, my L4D2 servers is crashing a lot. I have 2 servers running superversus 10x10 and 2 servers running coop 16 slots.

Right now I'm going to update my sourcemod and metamod to the latest version. I hope will fix the crashes.

I think is a good idea share information what is crashing our servers, tips to get the servers stable again etc.

EDIT: My servers were crashing each 30 minutes, now they are fine, more than 3 hours running. I don't know why... Maybe is crashing only in Dead Air? Because I didn't update my SM and MM versions.

Thanks

As far as I can tell, dead air finally when the plane crashes is causing the crashing. I'll try updated like the OP.

My server is crashing on the dead air finale only. So you are not alone. I found its crashing on the 2nd round, near the end of the game.

ive been running dead air campaign 5 times today, and 3 times last night - no crashes.
latest sm 1.4.0 + stable metamod 1.8.7.

it's probably a plugin of yours causing the crashes, or currupted server files. try verify_all.

Where do I type verify_all? Is your server 16 slots or 8 slots?

Its most likely a plugin causing the crashes. I'm running the latest dev build as of last night for both metamod and sourcemod.

@Chronic1
He means to run the hldsupdatetool.exe with the verify_all command or if your running the steam dedicated you can find the option in the properties.

I have a server with allgamer.net. I dont see a hldsupdatetool.exe. I have srcds_run srcds_linux and hlds_steamgames.vdf.

I still think its the Dead Air Finale map. I took out the map finale from the ACS plugin and the server no longer crashes. It goes through every campaign over and over without crashing. My server depends on sourcemod and l4dtoolz to work right.. its 8vs8 TAAAANNK Mutation where common infected drop adrenaline when you kill them. The adrenaline helps u get past choke points before the tanks can block.

tell your company to add verify_all to your servers start up line then and update your server, try with FMC or try latest SM/MM.

Can't blame this one on dead air, there's nothing wrong with dead air.

Actually there is a lot of things wrong with dead air. It could be the tank mutation crashing it. The finale has a lot of exploits and bugs that need fixing. Tanks sometimes spawn stuck in the plane. If you stand on a certain white van, zombies cant find you and dont spawn. I dont have the time to go through all my plugins and test to find out what is crashing it. Ill wait for another Dead Air update and hopefully the crashing will be fixed. Id rather just remove the finale then spend hours trying to solve the crashing.

to Jake84...
I have this section in my srcds_run file...

init() {
# Initialises the various variables
# Set up the defaults
GAME=""
DEBUG=""
RESTART="yes"
HL=./srcds_linux
TIMEOUT=10 # time to wait after a crash (in seconds)
CRASH_DEBUG_MSG="email debug.log to [email protected]"
GDB="gdb" # the gdb binary to run
DEBUG_LOG="debug.log"
CONSOLE_LOG=""
PID_FILE="" # only needed it DEBUG is set so init later
STEAM=""
PID_FILE_SET=0
STEAMERR=""
SIGINT_ACTION="quit 0" # exit normally on sig int
NO_TRAP=0
AUTO_UPDATE=""
STEAM_USER=""
STEAM_PASSWORD=""
STEAM_VERIFY=0
PARAMS=$*
NUMFORKS=""
NO_DEFAULT_MAP=0
DEFAULT_GAME="left4dead2"
DEFAULT_MAP="c1m1_hotel"

Im guessing that I should change STEAM_VERIFY=0 to STEAM_VERIFY=1

no, i didn't mean the srcds_run file. most gameserver providers won't even allow you to add verify_all, so you probably have to add a ticket for that.

anyway, I'm 100 % sure your crashing is related to bad setup with the ACS plugin.
Either change to FMC (which I use btw), or post in the ACS section that it won't allow map change after dead air and you need help how to fix it.
hopefuly someone will guide you into the right direction.

and yeah, dead air has some nasty bugs, but that is up
to valve to fix. the campaign was after all a BETA, ofc bugs would arise - just like with cold stream.
