How can I get this to work properly on a Listen Server?

No idea. If you do get it to work, though, it's quite likely that you would get VAC banned, because of how much l4dt patches in memory.

The only difference between listen and dedicated is the host having client id 0 (= console) and 1 both. Thats a major error source in most plugins, but by default everything including l4dt will work.

I really doubt youd get a VAC ban, VAC would not scan the 'server' executable for patches but the client one. And i dont even think that is the case, they're likely just looking for unnatural events and strange convar settings.

What do you mean by default it will work? Ive tried most everything I can think of and I cant get it to work properly.
I did have it showing 8 players as the maximum, but aside from the four in the listen server no one else could join as it was showing as full.

im having a problem on my server max players is changing , but not in steam groups

it shows that server is full on 8 players but l4d_maxplayers is set to 18

@dani1341: For now, you'll need to use l4dtoolz to actually change the steam group/friends display player count. Left4Downtown is restricted by sourcemod features atm and cannot patch the matchmaking library.

or you can look how ASToolz is patching and use the source in Downtown for matchmaking library.
