Listen servers are weird, they like to overwrite everything. You have to start it outside of steam (executing hl2.exe) until we find a better way.

Dedicated you can set files to read only.

Couldn't you make metamod:source load as normal server plugin and then hook engine<->api interface(s)?

I smell a corpse -> Sourcemod, it's dead, lets just burry it and find something new, or some new developers that have the time and will to finish it.

And yeah i saw the news "I’m going away for the July 4th weekend..."
I still think it's dead.

Forget all about CS 1.6, the old code is not compatible with new metamod. At least, you could ask the authors of amx to rewrite their code for metamod source...
