I know that certain effects will not work with ANY weapon but the one valve originally gave the attribute to but is the widowmaker's onhit addammo effect one of them? Here's the piece of my items.weapons.txt file for the short circuit:

Creating this for a mod that doesn't have spy sappers (and demomen are either on the same team or only have melee) so naturally the short circuit is more or less useless. My attempt to make it a more viable weapon.

Am I doing it wrong or is valve cursing our customization?

I haven't tried this configuration, but I've noticed before that some attributes are actually attached to specific weapon classes and their attributes are display only. I know for a fact the Bazaar Bargain works this way, it's possible that the Widowmaker does as well.

Or it could be that certain attributes only work on certain kinds of weapons.

Ah well, I decided to give it bleed instead. 10 metal for widespread 6 seconds of bleed, the short circuit has a point again
