Is it possible with 1.2 ways? I can't find a method in my head which would seem to work.

Yes its possibly. I did it with (broken) harry potter hero for 1.18. Same concept.
Its very messy. You can set one with shmod and then set just a regular keybind through amxx. I finally settled on one key hitting a menu with all the choices.

Making a menu with one key is definitely the way to go.

You can add an action to an already existing button. like attack2 or use.
