CS:GO without chickens is CS:S. Disgusting.

I think returning Plugin_Handled in the SDKHook_Spawn will stop the chicken from ever being spawned, saving more resources and possibly not making it appear for a nano-second to distract players.

SetEntProp(entity, Prop_Data, "m_iPetPopulation", 0); 


This prevents spawning chickens in the middle of the round.

Killing "chicken" entity will just remove chickens placed manually in the map, and these entities are spawned only on round_start.
