Only issue now, is that one player seems to have downloaded the texture just fine, but he gets crazy flashing purple checkerboard [missing texture] apparently. His dxlevel is 90 and texture detail is high. The texture itself has no LOD.
give him advice - buy a new computer

It probably won't always work for linux users, unless Sourcemod / TF2 fixes it itself.

I make it at 16:9 and scale to 1024x512 or 2048x1024

Video cards store textures in memory in powers of 2 for optimization. Since everything is binary and all systems are of powers of 2, cards, engines, and systems stick with 2's to maximize performance.

Ah I guess it makes sense. 2:1 is the same as 16:8 which I guess isn't missing out on much for most overlays.

I'm trying to render pixelated sprite art as pixely as possible instead of being resize-blurry, which is why I didn't want to stretch it.

It's sad that 16:9 is the standard size of monitors, because it's crap for doing actual work on. Those high end 4x3 screens were quite good, and were a lot nicer to work on than the hd format screens we've been forced into now. Now you can't even find a tablet or any professional device outside of the wide format.

Yeah, I had to drop a lot of desktop bgs. lul.

Is there a way to detect the player's monitor resolution (16:9 vs 4) via vmt?
