FF2 Need help for model

I want to create a boss but i need a model,so i decided to create it myself.
This is my first model so i want to make something easy: Pick a soldier model and add some cosmetics.
The problem is that i don't know how to do that and i can't find any guide on the internet.
Someone can link me a guide or help me in some way?

Thanks for the help
I know how to export the models from the game files and import them into blender but i have some problems with applying the textures in the model:
I select the soldier model then i go in edit mode and press A.When i press A the layout looks similar to the texture targa file i exported from the game files(soldier_blu.tga) but when i unwrap the model the layout is totaly different
