There was a release of KAC 1.1.9 that didn't use sockets, why isn't there one for KAC 1.2? I don't need it to connect to an IRC server or anything.

My game server host and reviewed and is not letting me use sockets because of 'security reasons'.


Are you able to create a build without the use of sockets?

I've just gone through the scripts then after I posted that and removed any line to do with sockets.

No errors so far. It all works.

I guess I shouldn't have made this topic.. To late.

I don't know why your game server provider would have such a hard time with allowing Sockets (as it is only like SourceMod and does not affect security in anyway). In fact, it would probably cause more issues in the long run because you are not able to run Sockets and receive security updates for KAC.

I guess I'll have to update it manually.. I'll try and convince my host to allow sockets..

I'm kind of curious, what was the draw to that provider for you guys? (Location, price, etc?)

The amount of BW our community servers consume... no other "small" host could support us. We would be constantly changing hosts every 2 months, but since being with Hypernia (who have teamed up with iiNet (an ISP in Australia)) we have had no problems. BW is very expensive in Aust.

They also offer unmetered gaming for all iiNet customers on our servers.
