Does anyone know how HLSW gets the IP address?

Yeah, I know that. But how does HLSW get the IP address? I mean, if it just does a normal HTTP GET to a eg. php file where the IP is shown, then you could simply use the Windows hosts file and redirect to your own webspace with the script.

It's been doing that to me on and off forever. If you can't log in, who cares? Go offline mode it still works the same.

I've never had to login to use it.

I never use the login, that's just there so you can see your HLSW buddies. Other than that it does not have an impact on the actual usage of the program.

You can also do a 'Get Log (LAN)'

If you guys wanted an HLSW alternative, what features would you be looking for, and what fixes from the current HLSW?

The core HLSW features really.

• Real time logging for each server
• Player time/ip/country/team etc
• Keyword detection is handy for picking up certain words in the logs
• The ping graph

Things like friends, FTP and mIRC bot etc I don't think really ever get used.
