I also recommend Windows Server...
Can't you install Linux Ubuntu Studio or Ubuntu newer version? 14, 15?

My experiences.

I had 40 slot public server that run 128 tick,
This server suffer from lag spikes (high, red var) in linux, taskset doesnt even help, server will stay on only one core.
This server run very smoothly in Windows 2008, var dont even go yellow, always will stay 0.001-0.005 range.
When I check task manager, I see both my cpu cores was in usage for srcds. they split equally the load.

Tests were done in same machine.

So try yourself before say anything.

So your personal experiences with your own servers are enough for you to claim that ALL 64 SLOTS servers in the whole world use the same system you prefer?

Good luck with that point of view.

Learn to administer servers before YOU say anything.

Its not about administer, you cant do anything if your server hit to %100 core usage.

Whats your point on this discussion? You've been on windows before? All OS not same. I use them both and say my experiences.

May not all 64 slots server use windows, thats okay, their prefer. but you can simple compare, pick two server who one use linux and who one use windows, both 64 slot, play in it when servers are full, you just will see which are good in performance.

You said in #6 that the bigger servers used Windows. Not even half of them did.

Only explanation to your words was your "personal experiences". Your personal experiences doesn't change facts.

It doesn't make sense to spread completely false information like that.

And I have done so several times, in fact, the times when I checked up on seriously unstable servers - they were running on Windows. But that doesn't mean Windows is totally useless or that no one can use it at all with good results. They could be administered bad.

Also good performance has nothing to do with Windows or Linux either; you don't get good performance with bad configurations on any of them.

I can say both positive and negative things about both systems. I guess we all can.
