Yes, that would work. You'll just have to be diligent in watching your IP and making sure you are updating it every time it changes.

Better yet, host the files on a different location. Assuming it's a regular consumer connection, hosting the files on the same connection totally defeats the purpose.

Why dont you ask your isp for a static ip if you want to host server on your system ?. It may cost you a few bucks.
