Holy crap, you don't know how much of a pain in the ass I've had tonight trying to setup a plugin to play some loading music on my NS v3.2 server (on Linux). I must have tried at least four others before I finally tried your version; and thank God I did!

It seems as all of the other plugins (at least as of this writing) was originally written for CS and they didn't play well with NS. Others were just poorly written or documented, and I even tried re-coding a few of them to see if I could fix the bugs myself - which was highly annoying.

So what I'm trying to say is THANK YOU!!!!

Take care,

HL is rather picky about which mp3s it will play. Try encoding your mp3s with a different encoder.

I get Missing RIFF/WAVE chunks errors no matter what mp3 i try to play from the console. It plays wavs but not mp3s.

For anyone having problems with mp3s that do not play, use this mp3 and see if it works. If it does, then your mp3s are not encoded correctly.

Eric Olson has graciously given us permission to use his song with this plugin.

Unzip into:
HL: <Steam Dir>\SteamApps\<Username>\half-life\valve\sound\misc\loading\
DMC: <Steam Dir>\SteamApps\<Username>\deathmatch classic\dmc\sound\misc\loading\
CS: <Steam Dir>\SteamApps\<Username>\counter-strike\cstrike\sound\misc\loading\

Play using console command:
mp3 play sound/misc/loading/chances_remix
Attached Files
File Type: zip chances_remix.zip (2.56 MB, 328 views)

This may be funny, but ermmm......it's a good idea to make sure mp3Volume is not set to 0.

I havent been able to get mp3 plugins to work at all for a very long time.........and I know why now. I think Im gonna be ill. :s

And yes, AndraX2000, the MP3 sound file works from the console just fine. Thank you.
(tested on my HL1DM gaming rig, will try to get this working on my HLDS server now)

could you add something in order to PLAYERS write "intro" in chat and loading sound it's played.

like player:
"intro"

server:
"mp3 play sound/misc/<name of mp3>"

did you understand what i mean?

This could boost players that in the loading time listen just 5 o 6 seconds of the whole intro and by this they could just listen all of the song
